Everlasting God

I remember the day the Holy Spirit dropped “Everlasting God” into my heart. I was getting ready to go to work and I couldn’t stop the chorus from ringing in my ears.  I thought, “Is this you, Lord?”

So I quickly obeyed His voice and sat at the piano, and before long, the song was birthed.  And yes, I was still early for work!

I am so grateful for every song the Lord gives me, but Everlasting God is special to me, as it is completely “vertical,” or in other words, it is all about who He is and lifting up His name.  If you know me, you know I love worship songs that are vertical.

My prayer is that as you listen to Everlasting God, as you sing it or play it at home alone, in your car or with your worship teams, that His presence will invade your atmosphere and whatever it is that you are in need of; peace, joy, comfort, wisdom or revelation, will be released as the God who created heaven and all the earth manifests His glory.

God bless you and thank you for listening!

Everlasting God

New Day

New Day is such an encouraging and uplifting song. It’s the melody of my heart that always brings this scripture to mind from Lamentations 3:21-24:

This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”

God is our Hope, our Strength and our Song! When we are going through the trials of life, it’s imperative that we bring ourselves “into remembrance” of who God is. To remind ourselves of His character and nature. Circumstances and situations will try to convince us that He has forgotten about us and does not love us. However, His word declares something quite different! He faithfully wakes us every morning with brand new mercy! Imagine this: When our eyes open each day He is already there, present and waiting to lavish His love and provision upon us. He never leaves us or forsakes us!

So no matter what yesterday looked like, today is a New Day! He is able to watch over His word and perform it in our lives! He is a faithful God who loves us with an everlasting love. I don’t know about you, but that gives me HOPE and a reason to face each new day with a smile! God bless you brothers and sisters!

Breakthrough

Have you ever been in a time of your life where you were just uncomfortable?  If we are telling the truth, maybe dissatisfied with “life as usual?”  I wrote Breakthrough during one of those seasons.  I remember the exact time this song was birthed so vividly…  It was a warm Maine Summer day.  I was walking down my road feeling the sun on my face.  In my “seeming happy place” yet inside I felt unsettled.  Like, I was ready for the next phase of life but I wasn’t quite sure what that was or what it would look like.  Either way, I knew something had to change and deep down, I knew it was going to be a transformation that started from the inside out.  So as I was walking and pondering all of these things my prayer to God started coming out with me saying, “God I’m hungry for a breakthrough in my life and whatever it takes I give you permission to do what you have to do in me so you can accomplish what you want to accomplish through me.”  He began to show me areas I was still holding onto because of fear and I started to get excited at the thought of relinquishing all control to God and just letting Him have His way.  Hence the phrase, “break me, shake me, mold me, remake me, do what You gotta do to shape me, for breakthrough, in my life.”

This song makes me want to dance.  It makes me rejoice because it positions the singer for true freedom – the freedom that comes when we give God the reigns and say, “not my will but Your will.”  I pray you enjoy the song and it becomes an anthem for your life.

Alive and Well

This day was a tough day for me. I remember being totally caught up in my own head. Outwardly I looked okay, but inwardly thoughts of fear were running rampant and totally threatening to steal my peace. No matter what I did I could not shake myself out of it. The logical side of my brain knew the thoughts I was having were not true and the enemy was using them to get me into a place of fear but no matter what I did, no matter what I took “authority over” I just could not snap out of it. Then the Holy Spirit whispered in my ear, “begin to declare truth, but sing it.”

I began to declare the first thing that came to my head and that was that “Jesus is alive and well in my thinking” and I said it over and over again until a melody began to form…. and I began to sing and declare truth over and over that “Jesus is alive and well today” in song. In that moment I realized, what had happened in my past was irrelevant and what was going to happen tomorrow was unimportant. I needed God’s peace NOW. I needed God’s truth to be revealed to me “today!” He is alive “today!” His promises are true for me “today!” His plans are good for me “today!” (Sometimes we need to work on our faith for “today” and then let God tackle our “tomorrows.”) I am not sure how much time passed while I was worshipping but before I even realized it the heaviness I was feeling was completely broken off and my spirit was lifted.

There is something about true worship (lifting up who He is) that I believe is attractive to the heart of God. When a person lifts up God instead of their problems, it says, “God you’re worthy of praise no matter what!”

Just like when Paul and Silas sang and praised God while in prison (Acts 16:25-34), and the Bible says “immediately all the doors were opened” God sets us free when we worship Him. And what I love even more is that our worship not only sets us free, it sets others free, too! (Read all of Acts 16 below)

It doesn’t matter what it is; fear, doubt, unbelief, depression or oppression, when we worship and God moves in they have to move out. Let me repeat; when God moves in, they have to move out!

Whatever you might be facing, I encourage you to take a break from thinking about it and just being to worship God. Find a scripture that ministers to your heart that is about His character and nature and begin to medicate in that place. But more importantly, begin to sing that scripture out loud and as you hear the word of God coming out of your own mouth, faith will increase and as faith increases and God becomes bigger then your problems I promise you joy will be restored! Hallelujah!

Scriptural Reference:

Acts 16:25-34New King James Version (NKJV)

25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. 28 But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.”

29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.
